In a shocking development on Friday, the promotion has decided to scrap the middleweight clash between Jacare Souza and Uriah Hall for this Saturday's card as the Brazilian fighter tested positive for COVID-19 along with his two cornermen. The UFC said the pay-per-view event will go ahead as planned despite Souza's test result as the remaining fighters in the May 9 card were given green to light to compete in Florida. “UFC’s medical team examined Souza and his two cornermen and found them to be currently asymptomatic, or not exhibiting the common symptoms of COVID-19.
